Introduction
Homer supports clients with strategic patent counseling, infringement and invalidity analysis, U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, and litigation.
Yang-Hsien (Homer) Hsu works with inventors to evaluate next-generation products or emerging technology areas to determine what protection will be needed to expand their businesses. Homer also manages clients’ patent litigation cases and licensing projects.
Before joining Ashurst Perkins Coie, Homer was a practicing patent attorney in Taiwan. He advised clients in various industries on patent infringement disputes, IP transactions, and international investment opportunities. As an in-house counsel, Homer was involved in several transnational projects, including M&A, IP due diligence, and alternative dispute resolutions.
Homer has experience with patent analysis and prosecution in a wide range of technologies, including electric vehicles, consumer electronics, cloud computing, Internet of Things, semiconductor processing, LEDs, liquid crystal display assemblies, clean tech and renewable energy, medical devices, and computer software, including AI and machine learning. He also has experience with inter partes review and provides support in various patent and copyright litigation cases.
In his pro bono practice, Homer volunteers at a naturalization clinic in Seattle, helping low-income applicants understand the process and fill out applications.

Counseled a Taiwanese LED manufacturer in a patent infringement case brought by a patentee. Authored legal opinion and patent analysis. Teamed with U.S. legal counsels to represent the respondent.
