Board succession and search / appointment

The process of Board succession planning is never complete. We provide guidance on Board composition and ongoing Board succession planning. This includes supporting clients with their key Board appointments, by reviewing existing Board skills and dynamics against company strategy, culture and operating environment.

We work with our clients to develop a tailored search process to identify and appoint Directors with the skills, experience, character and resilience to enhance Board and company performance.

CEO succession, assessment and search / appointment

The appointment of the CEO is the most important matter that a Board presides over. Appointing the "wrong" CEO can significantly impact a company and may destroy billions of dollars of value.

We assist our clients to proactively engage in a program of active and ongoing CEO succession planning. This includes the identification, assessment and development of internal talent, as well as monitoring external CEO prospects.

The complexity of large businesses, broad stakeholder groups and demanding regulators mean that Boards inevitably confront nuanced governance challenges that may require deeper investigation.

We offer independent governance advisory and consulting services across a range of strategic and governance issues (such as company strategy, risk and opportunities, Director and CEO remuneration and market communication and engagement strategies), and provide advice to support a Board's response.

The roles of Chair, Non-Executive Director and CEO carry significant responsibility. Among other things, they demand courage, empathy, resilience, and personal sacrifice.

We understand the complexity involved in governing large companies, and provide coaching and mentoring to Chairs, Non-Executive Directors and CEOs, on matters of practical corporate governance and company strategy.

We also provide these services to those that have regular engagement with the Board, including Executive Team members, the General Counsel and Company Secretary.
