Jon Lovell advises a range of leading organizations on all aspects of workplace relations, employment and work health and safety law.
Jon acts for clients across range of industry sectors, including energy and resources, oil and gas, transport (aviation, road and rail), financial services, health, care economy, retail, government and higher education.
Jon advises clients on modern awards, enterprise bargaining, collective and individual disputes, union right of entry and industrial action. Jon also advises on unfair dismissal claims, general protections disputes, discrimination and harassment complaints, privacy complaints, workplace investigations, performance management, work health and safety, workers' compensation, internal review mechanisms and executive remuneration and benefits.
Jon regularly appears before courts and tribunals (including the Fair Work Commission). Clients appreciate Jon's practical approach to resolution of claims, and strong mediation and advocacy skills.
- AGL Energy | Advising on enterprise bargaining across AGL's portfolio of coal, gas and renewable generation assets across Australia. Advised on the closure AGL's Liddell Power Station and the planned closure and transition of AGL's Torrens Island Power Station.
- Alcoa | Advised on bargaining for a proposed enterprise agreement including managing significant protected industrial action and bargaining disputes in the Fair Work Commission.
- ANZ | advised on the employment and workplace relations aspect of ANZ’s A$4.9 billion acquisition and integration of Suncorp Bank.
- Australia Post / Star Track | Acting in proceedings before the Fair Work Commission to make minimum standards orders and contractual chain orders covering road transport workers. Acted for Australia Post / StarTrack in bargaining for enterprise agreements and contractor agreements covering their delivery workforces.
- Healthscope | Advising on the employment and workplace relations aspects of the proposed sale of the portfolio of Healthscope private hospitals by receivers, McGrath Nicol.
- Mitsubishi | Advised on the employment, workplace relations and safety aspects of the US$4.1 billion sale of Queensland metallurgical coal mines to Whitehaven.
- An oil and gas company | Advising on a significant realignment of workplace arrangements covering its upstream and midstream businesses and associated enterprise bargaining.
- Confidential | Acting for leading organisations across the mining, energy, construction, manufacturing, transport and retail sectors in relation to the managing major safety incidents, including immediate response, engagement with work health and safety regulators and defending prosecutions.
