Africa
Navigating Africa's diverse, fast-changing markets requires lawyers who constantly strive to anticipate their client's needs and exceed their expectations.
Ashurst Perkins Coie's experience managing high-profile, cross-border matters in Africa is founded on a deep understanding of African markets dating back 120 years. Our Casablanca office was opened in 2025 and is our first physical presence on the African continent.
Our Africa group connects more than 150 partners and associates across our global network of offices and includes all practice groups and industry sectors. We have worked on matters in nearly every African country, covering French, English, Portuguese, Spanish, and Arabic-speaking jurisdictions with our dual-qualified and multilingual lawyers. As a result, we have developed deep knowledge of the legal systems, regulatory environments, business life, and cultural subtleties across the continent. Our global teams combine on-the-ground experience engaging with local players, governments, and counsel with local law firm knowledge to provide a seamless experience to our clients.
We work with a wide range of local and international clients in Africa, particularly on M&A, project development, project finance, and dispute resolution. In addition, we have an award-winning practice in export and agency finance, and strong relationships with the major ECAs, DFIs, and multilaterals. Our main areas of focus cover energy, natural resources and mining, transport, traditional and digital infrastructure, technology, media, and telecoms.
