Riley Zoch helps clients with complex patent disputes and other high-stakes intellectual property and commercial litigation matters. Prior to joining Ashurst Perkins Coie, Riley served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Rodney Gilstrap of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. During his clerkship, he observed all stages of patent litigation proceedings, including Markman hearings, motion hearings, pretrial conferences, jury trials, and bench trials.

Before his clerkship, Riley practiced in the general litigation group of a prominent Austin law firm. His experience spans all phases of litigation, from pretrial discovery through trial, and includes matters involving a broad range of technologies across industrial, commercial, and consumer markets.

Riley graduated in the top of his class from Baylor Law School, serving as a technical editor and as the administrative editor of the Baylor Law Review. He also co-founded PALS (Parents Attending Law School) and served as the vice president. In addition, Riley participated in several advocacy competitions, including the Estrella Trial Advocacy Competition in Puerto Rico, Baylor Law's Mad Dog Mock Trial Competition, and Baylor Law's Ultimate Writer Competition.

Before entering the legal profession, Riley taught mathematics, robotics, and technology courses for five years—an experience that continues to inform his ability to analyze and communicate complex technical concepts.
