Dr. Vinay Sathe is an IP lawyer with an extensive background in various technical areas, including electrical engineering. He focuses on wireless communications, mobile devices, telecommunications, software, semiconductors, digital signal processing, and biomedical sensors and devices.
Vinay handles standard-essential patents, including prosecution, patent pool participation and licensing issues, and IP rights challenges in codec space, wireless power charging (Qi), and wireless communication areas (Wi-Fi, 3GPP).
Vinay has served in lead technology roles at multiple communications companies. He contributed to several standards-setting organizations during his engineering career, such as the Moving Picture Experts Group and U.S. HDTV broadcast standard.
Vinay has worked as a visiting lecturer in the electrical and computer engineering department at the University of California, San Diego, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in signal processing. He is also the co-inventor of two U.S. patents related to digital video processing.
