Introduction

Tyler is an associate in the Intellectual Property practice at Ashurst Perkins Coie, focusing on patent litigation.

Tyler Knox  works with teams that litigate patent claims in district courts, the International Trade Commission, and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He has challenged patent claims on behalf of petitioners and advocated for the patentability of patent owners' claims in briefings, expert depositions, and oral hearings before the USPTO in inter partes reviews and ex parte reexamination requests.  Tyler drafts, revises, and reviews district court motions, pleadings, invalidity and infringement contentions, and expert reports. He also authors articles and newsletters covering patent law updates.

Tyler previously served as a patent attorney at an international law firm and worked at a national IP firm, orally advocating in district court for claim construction positions and drafting petitions, expert declarations, replies, and deposition preparation materials. Prior to that, Tyler served as a U.S. Army engineering officer.

Tyler earned his J.D. with a certificate in IP from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Before law school, he earned his M.S. in engineering management from Missouri University of Science and Technology and his B.S. in civil engineering from the U.S. Military Academy. He engages his professional engineering experience, education, and background as a primary patent examiner at the USPTO to help clients navigate high-technology patent litigation disputes in federal cases, Section 337 investigations, and post-grant proceedings.
