Tom is a data, digital regulation and cybersecurity lawyer, combining private practice, in-house banking and big tech experience for global clients.

Tom Brookes is a senior associate in our Technology Strategy, Disputes & Transactions practice.

Tom focuses on data protection, digital regulation and cybersecurity law. His role involves supporting global companies on the full range of transactional and advisory matters with a particular focus on digital technologies such as generative AI and biometric data processing.

Tom is recognized as a key lawyer in Ashurst Perkins Coie's Legal 500 ranking for its UK data protection practice in 2024 and was commended for his "technical and commercial understanding".

Tom previously worked for two years in a global investment bank with responsibility for data protection compliance matters across the firm's business lines and more recently spent time on secondment in the privacy legal team at multinational technology conglomerate.

Tom has worked on a number of pro bono matters, including assisting a charity in its work to overturn miscarriages of justice within the criminal justice system. Tom has also undertaken a secondment as a judicial assistant at the High Court of England and Wales.
