Steven Cohen

Steven H. Cohen has a broad range of finance and securitization experience, including working in-house at legal departments of global financial and technology corporations, as well as in private practice. His work includes corporate trust matters, mortgage- and asset-backed securitizations, restructurings and workouts, hedge fund and private equity debt, and general corporate matters. 

Most recently, Steven served as a senior legal consultant to The Bank of New York, where he advised the corporate trust department on asset-backed securities, residential and commercial mortgage-backed securities, collateralized loan obligations, document custody, escrows, and reinsurance trusts. Steven negotiated transaction documents and managed outside counsel, Regulation AB compliance, litigation, and regulatory matters. 

Steven also held roles at Citigroup, a multibillion-dollar hedge fund affiliate of UBS, and IBM Credit Corporation. He also spent an extended period as executive director and counsel to Portigon AG (formerly WestLB). There, he advised the asset-backed securitization and financial institution departments on all phases of originating loan facilities backed by mortgage- and asset-backed receivables and capital call obligations of investors in private equity and hedge funds. Steven also monitored and implemented the Dodd-Frank Act and other bank regulatory initiatives.
