Simon is experienced across all forms of corporate taxation in the UK but has a particular focus on real estate and indirect tax.

Simon Swann is a Tax Partner in Ashurst Perkins Coie's London office. He advises on all forms of corporate tax, with a particular emphasis on real estate taxes. From 2003 to 2004, Simon was seconded to the then Inland Revenue Stamp Taxes Policy & Statute Team to develop and implement Stamp Duty Land Tax and in 2008 he was seconded to the property structured finance division of RBS.

Simon is a member of the Stamp Taxes Practitioners' Group and the British Property Federation's VAT Committee.

Simon was recognized as a Leading Partner in VAT and Indirect Tax in Legal 500 UK 2026. He was recognized in Band 1 for Real Estate Tax in Chambers 2025 and 2026.

  • Korean Investment Management | On the £200 million acquisition and financing of 70 Mark Lane.
  • KB Securities | On the £145 million corporate acquisition on 10 Cannon Way, Bristol.
  • Samsung SRA Asset Management | On its share acquisition, structuring and financing of 200 Aldersgate Street and on the structuring, acquisition, financing and ultimately the sale of 30 Crown Place and Samsung Life Insurance in relation to the structuring, purchase of and financing of its share acquisition of 30 Gresham Street.
  • LB Asset Management | On the acquisition of a BAE occupied manufacturing warehouse at Radway Green, Crewe and separately the Sainsbury's Centre at Hams Hall, Birmingham each on behalf of a consortium of Korean institutional investors.
  • London Legacy Development Corporation | Advising on in relation to strategic tax advice on the tax issues around the development of The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and other sites that they own.
