Introduction

Sharila focuses on complex commercial and antitrust litigation matters across state and federal jurisdictions.

Sharila Stewart has experience in all phases of litigation, from drafting initial pleadings to handling discovery and motions. Her diverse background in criminal defense, white-collar investigations, and policy advocacy enriches her approach to problem-solving and client representation.

Sharila has managed multidistrict litigation matters involving large-scale e-discovery, document collection, review, and production. She is adept at composing search terms and review protocols, creating case chronologies, and supervising teams in document review. Sharila has also participated in discovery negotiations, issued and responded to written discovery requests, and prepared for and attended depositions.

Her robust pro bono work has included helping women from the Democratic Republic of Congo apply for asylum, advising a local nonprofit providing community education, and supporting impact litigation related to incarcerated people with mental health conditions.

Prior to joining the firm, Sharila worked as a criminal defense staff lawyer, representing clients in state court for misdemeanor cases and assisting in a felony trial. A former teacher, she also contributed to the drafting of policy memorandums concerning school discipline policies and racial segregation data at the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights.
