Introduction

Sam supports lawyers and clients by designing and facilitating mock trials and focus groups, conducting juror risk analysis, and interpreting research data and external insights.

Samantha R. Bean earned her Ph.D. with a dissertation examining how jurors award noneconomic damages with and without numerical guidance, based on varying state laws.

She has done extensive research in assessing how jurors think about, react to, and award noneconomic and punitive damages. Sam also seeks to understand why jurors exhibit more punitive decisions against wealthy and large corporations, versus individual defendants, and how to improve perceptions of these defendants.

Sam develops skills in witness preparation and jury selection and takes a methodical, responsive approach focused on timely results. She collaborates closely with the firm’s Litigation Consulting team, as well as lawyers from the firm and the legal community who engage her team for research and analytical support.

Sam is also committed to pro bono work as a consultant.
