Introduction
Rob navigates complex multi-jurisdictional restructurings, insolvencies and enforcement spanning Asia and Europe.
Rob Child is a partner in the restructuring, insolvency and special situations practice. Rob is especially well placed to advise on complex multi-jurisdictional restructurings and insolvencies involving both Asia and Europe. Rob is also very experienced in enforcement work, advising on recoveries in many challenging jurisdictions. Over the course of his career, he has represented a diverse range of stakeholders, including corporate debtors, private credit and private equity funds, syndicated lender groups, bondholders, ad-hoc groups, creditors' committees, insolvency officeholders, agents and trustees.
Prior to joining Ashurst Perkins Coie, Rob spent the majority of his career working at a Magic Circle law firm, with experience in their London, Hong Kong, and Singapore offices.
Rob is qualified in both England & Wales and Hong Kong.
- Petrofac | advising a successful dissenting creditor in connection with the restructuring of Petrofac.
- Asian Airline | advising on the cessation of its operations in Singapore.
- GFG | advising GFG on its proposed restructuring by way of a Singapore scheme of arrangement.
- Logan | advising a group of bondholders in connection with the ongoing restructuring of the Logan Group.
- Antanium Resources | acting for a creditor in connection with the proposed scheme of arrangement of Antanium Resources.
- MIE Corporation | acting for MIE Corporation on its offshore debt restructuring, including the use of a Cayman scheme of arrangement and Chapter 15 recognition to restructure New York law governed notes.
- China Aoyuan | advising a dissenting creditor in connection with the company's multi-jurisdictional and interconnected schemes of arrangement.
- A global credit fund | Advising on the enforcement of security and subsequent successful control a mining asset in Africa.
- An oil major | advising on its exposure to a defaulting bio-fuels producer in Indonesia.
- Babel | advising a crypto exchange on in opposition to Babel's Singapore scheme of arrangement and associated moratorium.
