A Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US), Peter Hegel advises companies throughout the product lifecycle, helping clients navigate privacy and security considerations relating to product development and launches, AI and emerging technologies, data governance, and cybersecurity preparedness. He regularly counsels clients on U.S. state privacy laws, enforcement risk, incident response, and risk assessments, and works closely with legal, product, engineering, security, and compliance teams to implement practical and scalable compliance strategies in fast-moving environments. Peter advises clients ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies.
In addition, Peter has completed several successful secondments with leading technology companies, including a major social networking company, a major online retailer, and a multinational online search engine platform. Through this experience, he worked closely with in-house legal and compliance teams and developed a practical understanding of how legal advice is implemented across organizations. Clients value Peter’s pragmatic, solutions-oriented approach and ability to deliver timely, actionable guidance that aligns legal requirements with business and product objectives.
Peter also maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in immigration and affirmative asylum matters and advising small businesses and entrepreneurs on a variety of legal issues.
