Introduction

Peter splits his time between London and Tokyo and is sought after for his experience in the construction and energy sectors.

Peter Grayson is a partner focusing on all aspects of non-contentious construction, with particular experience in the renewable energy sectors. As well as bespoke and "pass down" construction contracts, Peter has particular knowledge in negotiating construction contracts across the standard construction forms of FIDIC, NEC, IChemE, LOGIC and JCT.

Beyond his core construction practice, Peter has experience in the negotiation of operation and maintenance agreements (and related asset management service agreements), grid connection arrangements, and power offtake arrangements, including in relation to private wire structures.

Peter has extensive experience advising clients in respect of legal and commercial solutions for projects that have become distressed during or post construction period.

He is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales.

  • The commercial banks on the £2 billion financing of the 882MW Moray West offshore windfarm in Scotland.  
  • JBIC, EKF and 16 commercial banks on the £2.6 billion financing of the 950 MW Moray East offshore windfarm in Scotland.  
  • Great British Nuclear in respect of the development and roll out of its small modular reactor nuclear program and the procurement of the small module reactors.
  • Global Infrastructure Partners in respect of the review and risk analysis of the construction contracts for the Liverpool Bay and Bacton CCUS projects in the context of its 49.99% acquisition of ENI CCUS Holding.
  • China General Nuclear on its investment into Hinkley Point C nuclear power project, with a particular focus on risk analysis and due diligence of the multi-contract procurement strategy and construction contracts.
  • JBIC, NEXI, IFC and commercial lenders in respect of the construction and financing of the USD 1bn 1580MW Syrdarya CCGT IPP in Uzbekistan.
  • JBIC, KEXIM, NEXI and commercial lenders on construction support (pre and post financial close) in respect of the multi-billion dollar 1200MW Vung Ang II BOT Power Project in Vietnam.
