Introduction

Oviett represents communications providers and online platforms in civil and criminal cases involving the Stored Communications Act (SCA), data disclosure demands, and related constitutional issues.

Oviett Worthington Wargula advises on the Wiretap Act, Pen Register/Trap and Trace Act, and other state laws. Additionally, she counsels clients on data breach preparation and response, enforces terms of use for large technology clients, and defends against consumer class actions, including data breach defense, state biometrics law claims, and the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA). Oviett also works on class-action litigation related to data breaches and assists clients with child safety regulations. 

She maintains an active pro bono practice focused on immigration, successfully helping a refugee family from Afghanistan obtain asylum and assisting with numerous U-Visa applications. Oviett has also helped government contractors appeal security clearance determinations in the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals (DOHA).

Before her legal career, Oviett was a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and continues to serve in the Air Force Reserve.
