Morgan Spain

Morgan Spain plays a key role in Ashurst Perkins Coie's Strategic Advisory group, leveraging her experience in legal-led managed services and complex investigations and disputes, as well as governance, risk, and compliance.

Morgan has co-created and made significant contributions to our Integrated Solutions and Managed Services, including:

• the Obligation Management Solution (OMS) to assist clients with navigating the complex compliance landscape, adapt to regulatory changes, and strive for compliance excellence;
• the Breach Reporting Managed Service to enable financial services clients to efficiently and effectively leverage automation to manage the reportable situation regime; and
• a Document Review and Production Service to respond to regulatory investigations and complete discovery.

To complement her accomplished legal experience, Morgan has developed her design thinking and client-centric solution development skills whilst optimizing legal and business processes to support clients in meeting their regulatory obligations. She brings a blend of legal, risk consulting and technology delivery capabilities to her work to deliver greater efficiencies and value for her clients.

Morgan has significant experience in regulatory investigations and disputes, compliance investigations and commercial disputes, and acts for a wide range of clients across the financial services, energy and resources, and utilities sectors.

She takes a specific focus on regulatory investigations and enforcement in the financial services sector, after playing a key role in the senior leadership team acting for ANZ Banking Group in the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry. She has also acted for Authorized Deposit-taking Institutions (ADIs), credit licensees and FinTechs on a range of ASIC investigations, proceedings, and industry reviews.

Morgan has also honed her business operations and regulatory compliance skills, having spent almost 3 years in a vocational education and training business, overseeing their operations, legal and regulatory compliance functions.
