Introduction

Kentaro is a cross-border energy and infrastructure finance counsel spanning LNG, renewables, CCS and beyond across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and Latin America.

Kentaro Okamoto is a counsel in our projects, energy, environment & resources practice based in Tokyo. He has over 10 years of experience in international and cross-border project finance, energy and infrastructure M&A and investments, including export credit and development finance.

He advises lenders and sponsors on both outbound and inbound energy and infrastructure transactions, with experience across sectors including LNG, renewable energy (offshore wind, solar and geothermal), carbon capture and storage (CCS), conventional power, data centre infrastructure, railway and the space sector. His work spans a range of clients, including government entities, financial institutions, multinational corporations, trading companies and energy and utility companies, across Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

Prior to joining the firm, Kentaro gained in-house experience at a global bank and was seconded to the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). Kentaro also worked in London.

Kentaro is a Japanese-qualified lawyer (bengoshi), admitted to the Daini Tokyo Bar Association, and is also qualified in England and Wales. He is fluent in Japanese and English.
