Justin has over 20 years' experience advising clients on all areas of competition and consumer law, energy regulation and infrastructure access.

Justin Jones is experienced in assisting clients to obtain merger clearance, respond to regulatory inquiries, defend and pursue litigation, achieve best practice regulatory compliance, and secure other regulatory authorizations and exemptions from competition, consumer and energy regulators. Justin works closely with commercial, legal and compliance teams to deliver pragmatic, concise and clear advice and help clients achieve their objectives.

  • ANZ | Lead Partner | 2024 | Advised on ANZ's successful application for merger authorization for its acquisition of Suncorp Bank. ANZ was granted merger authorization by the Australian Competition Tribunal after the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission denied ANZ's merger authorization application. 
  • EnergyAustralia | Lead Partner | 2024 | Acted for EnergyAustralia in proceedings in the Federal Court for contraventions of the Electricity Retail Code and Australian Consumer Law. 
  • Woodside | Partner | 2024 | Advised Woodside on its successful application for a Conditional Ministerial Exemption to the Gas Market Code.
  • Water Utility | Leader Partner | 2025 | Acted for a water utility in relation to an investigation by the Essential Services Commission and subsequent resolution through an enforceable undertaking.
