Jon helps clients resolve complex disputes throughout the United States, with a focus on construction.
Jonathan P. Goddard is chair of Ashurst Perkins Coie’s nationally recognized Construction Law practice, ranked in Band 1 in Washington state by Chambers USA. Jon assists public and private clients throughout the construction industry, including commercial, mixed-use, and multifamily projects; infrastructure, energy, and renewable power matters; data centers and other critical work for technology companies; mining and natural resource projects; industrial and manufacturing facilities; school district and university matters; airport, maritime port, and other transportation projects; and luxury homes.
Jon counsels clients at every stage of a construction project. He drafts and negotiates construction, design, management, and procurement contracts, and has experience with all major project delivery methods. He also has significant experience advising clients during construction to identify, mitigate, and resolve issues. Jon helps streamline any dispute resolution through mediation strategies, creating cost-effective discovery solutions, writing case-ending motions, and leading efficient teams.
Jon also regularly tries cases. He has extensive in-court experience and has spent more than 200 days at trial over the past few years. He plays a central role in preparing and presenting witnesses, cross-examining lay and expert witnesses, and assisting with trial visuals and other techniques to convey complex concepts.
Jon is committed to championing educational causes and maintains an active pro bono practice.
