Introduction
Jeffrey is a corporate bankruptcy lawyer and commercial litigator with more than 20 years of experience in litigation and complex financial restructurings.
Jeffrey Vanacore regularly represents clients in bankruptcy and restructuring matters and appears in bankruptcy courts nationwide. He also litigates matters involving privacy, IP, class actions, and breaches of fiduciary duty. Jeffrey is one of the few lawyers in the country who has obtained a full student loan discharge for a client, argued complex bankruptcy appeals, and been published in the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal and other publications on various cutting-edge issues.
Jeffrey is a seasoned lawyer who designs solutions to prevent legal issues from impacting a client's goals and developing solutions when and if they are necessary. His problem-solving experience runs deep, as he finds creative and unique solutions for his clients. Jeffrey's background and education in manufacturing, tax, and accounting helps him understand not just the client's legal issues, but their business as well. His clients often remark that when they considered who would best be to handle challenging legal issues or litigation, Jeffrey's name was at the top of the list.
Jeffrey is a certified public accountant, in Illinois, and a former enrolled agent with the Internal Revenue Service and previously worked in the tax-consulting department of a Big Four accounting firm. Jeffrey is also experienced in IP matters and is a registered patent attorney licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He has litigated numerous IP matters in both bankruptcy and district courts.

Jeffrey has deep experience in the self-storage industry, both in bankruptcy and outside of bankruptcy. Also. extensive experience in the interplay between bankruptcy and Section 182 of the New York Lien Law.

Represented Chapter 7 Trustee of Wall Street area sports museum, financed through post-9/11 liberty bonds, housing memorabilia such as Michael Strahan's motorcycle, Sam Snead's golf clubs and Brandi Chastain’s sports bra.

Represented Liquidating Trust Administrator and unsecured creditors' committee of a high-end vacation club.

Represented acquirer of New York City medical imaging practice through successful Chapter 11 cases, providing for payment in full of nearly all creditors and return to equity holders.
In re BHS&B Holdings Inc. (Steve & Barry Retail Stores)*
Represented unsecured creditors committee of Steve & Barry retail stores in Chapter 22 bankruptcy filing. Prosecuted several multi-million-dollar litigation claims against officers, directors, private equity funds and a high-profile celebrity, who was a key supplier.
In re Metiom Inc.*
Represented unsecured creditors committee of a failed technology start-up company, which returned more than 2/3 to creditors, despite company’s initial prediction that creditors would receive less than 5%. Prosecuted scores of litigation claims on behalf of creditor trust.
In re Council Travel Services Inc.*
Represented the world’s second largest student travel agency in Chapter 11 cases filed to consummate sale of worldwide operations. Represented liquidating trust in dozens of litigation claims. Turned Rail-Europe class action settlement passes into windfall recovery for creditors.
