Introduction
James represents technology clients on patent and IP litigation.
James Miller represents clients in litigation before U.S. district courts, the International Trade Commission, and in inter partes review proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He also represents clients in domestic and international arbitrations involving breach of contract, trade secrets, and IP disputes. His clients span various tech backgrounds, including software, networking technologies, semiconductors, AI and machine learning, mechanical and electrical devices, biotechnology, and pharmaceuticals.
James’ patent litigation practice involves advising plaintiffs and defendants in federal courts throughout the United States, including regularly in the District Courts for the Eastern District of Texas, the Western District of Texas, the Northern District of California, and the District of Delaware. James also litigates complex Hatch-Waxman litigation on behalf of pharmaceutical clients. He handles disputes at every stage of litigation, from pre-litigation strategies through trial.
On a pro bono basis, James represents asylum seekers as well as members of Washington state communities against local government retaliation.
Earlier in his career, James was an intern at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined patents in the chemistry art unit relating to hydraulic fracturing and food processing and packaging.
