Grant has significant experience working on complex infrastructure and energy transition matters across the Middle East.

Grant Batten advises sponsors, lenders and government authorities on the development of energy and infrastructure assets across the Middle East and Africa.

His practice spans multiple sectors, including utilities, oil and gas, social infrastructure and transport, with a particular knowledge on PPP projects.

Grant is qualified in England & Wales.

  • A water and electricity company on the "round the clock" gigaproject with Masdar, consisting of the development of 5.2GW of solar PV and 19GWh of battery storage.
  • A national oil company and TAQA on the procurement of "Project Wave", a US$2.2 billion water treatment and pipeline project to replace fossil aquifer water with treated seawater for onshore oilfield injection.
  • A national oil company and TAQA on the procurement of "Project Lightning", a US$3.8 billion first-of-its-kind HVDC transmission project to power ADNOC's offshore production.
  • A water and electricity company and Tadweer on the structuring and procurement of the first waste-to-energy facility to be developed in Abu Dhabi.
  • A water and electricity company in relation to the 1GW Al Dhafra IPP project in Abu Dhabi.
  • Plenary and Besix on the development of the Zayed City Schools PPP in Abu Dhabi and the subsequent augmentation to include the development of the Khalifa City School.
  • Vision Invest on the development and financing of the Tatweer Schools PPPs (Wave 1 and 2), the first schools PPP projects to be procured in Saudi Arabia.
  • The National Centre for Privatization and Saudi Railway Company on the concession for Riyadh Dry Port.
  • Sponsors/Lenders on various conventional power, renewable power and water projects across the Middle East.
  • International Port Operators on various concession agreements in the Middle East and Africa.
