Fareid Asphahani

Informed by his diverse technology background and extensive patent practice experience, Fareid Asphahani counsels clients to create valuable IP portfolios and achieve their strategic goals. Fareid works closely with his clients’ technical and business development teams to build patent portfolios resulting in acquisitions aggregating over half a billion dollars. 

Fareid’s practice focuses on all aspects of patent procurement and prosecution, strategic portfolio development, patent due diligence, and freedom-to-operate analyses for IP matters spanning a range of technology fields. He supports litigation teams in disputes before U.S. district courts or in post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including inter partes reviews and patent reexaminations. He also evaluates patent assets in IP transaction matters. 

Fareid’s technical experience covers technologies related to biomedical engineering, materials science, and electrical engineering. Fareid has an extensive background in biosensor platforms for wearable health monitoring and drug discovery applications, nanoscale devices for drug delivery, and health information technology systems. His patent practice extends to medical devices and biotechnology, clean technology, aerospace and military technology, and consumer product technologies. 

Fareid is a co-inventor of a U.S. patent in the field of motion biomechanics and gait analysis and a co-author of nine research articles published in scientific journals in the fields of biomaterials, biological sensors and electronics, and analytical chemistry.
