Introduction
Denise advises clients on estate and gift tax, trust, and other tax-related issues, with a focus on tax compliance, controversy resolution, litigation, and legal analysis.
Denise Larson works on estate planning for complex estates, federal estate and gift tax compliance, and legal analysis. She analyzes existing planning and counsels clients on new estate, gift and trust planning structures and opportunities. Denise also assists clients with tax controversy and litigation matters. Prior to joining Ashurst Perkins Coie, Denise worked for more than 30 years at the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), where she was a lead attorney responsible for complex estate and gift tax examinations. She was a member of the IRS estate and gift tax policy staff, where she led the emerging issues team, presented on emerging issues topics, and collaborated with the IRS National Office on related regulations and rulings. As a member of the U.S. Tax Court, Denise has extensive experience in trial preparation, witness interviewing, and trial strategy.
