Dean heads Ashurst Perkins Coie's private investment funds practice in the UAE. He has significant experience in advising on issues related to private asset management and, especially, the establishment of private investment funds, managed accounts, joint ventures and co-investment platforms across a wide variety of asset classes, including infrastructure, real estate, private equity and debt.

Dean has broad experience advising market-leading sponsors, including those with niche investment strategies, and first-time fund managers on the structuring and establishment of private funds. His experience includes advising institutional clients, including pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and development finance institutions, on their global investments.

  • Uzbek-Oman Investment Company, a development company jointly owned by the Oman Investment Authority and the Uzbekistan Government, on the structuring and execution of a private equity fund investing in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
  • BYD Company Limited on their partnership with Vitol to provide fleet mobility as a service in select markets worldwide and their concurrent, aggregate US$250 million commitment to the Vitol sponsored VIP Green Mobility Fund, L.P.
  • A sovereign wealth fund on their US$500 million commitment to TPG Asia VIII (B), L.P.
