Cameron principally focuses on infrastructure and energy projects and has a deep understanding of waste, waste-to-energy and biomass – advising sponsors, funders and contractors across multiple jurisdictions.

Cameron Smith is a partner in our projects practice and has particular experience of both UK and international PPP and private sector projects across a variety of industry sectors.

His clients include sponsors, funders and contractors, and his work has spanned a number of industry sectors, including the road, rail, education, health, custodial and waste sectors. Cameron has worked on projects across a number of jurisdictions in the UK, Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia. Over the last 10 years, Cameron has focused primarily on projects in the waste, waste-to-energy and biomass sectors.

  • Velocys plc and British Airways | Lead partner | in relation to the development of a waste-to-jet fuel (SAF) project in Immingham, UK in conjunction with British Airways.
  • Low Carbon and BH Energy Gap | Lead partner | in relation to the development and financing of the Doncaster energy from waste project being developed at Kirk Sandall, Doncaster.
  • Encyclis Limited | Lead partner | ongoing, in relation to the development and financing of an energy-from-waste project at Corby.
  • Acorn Bioenergy | Lead partner | in relation to the ongoing development of the Acorn Bioenergy project, involving the structuring, drafting and negotiation of energy crop, potale and manure feedstock supply agreements, O&M arrangements and CO2 sales agreements across a variety of sites.
  • Advanced Fuel Plants Limited | Lead partner | in relation to the ongoing development of the Avonmouth Anaerobic Digestion Plant, processing poultry manure generated across the Wye Valley to produce bio-methane.
  • Peel NRE Limited | Partner | in relation to the development of multiple district heating networks across the UK through the joint venture vehicle Ener-Vate.
  • Aventa Capital Limited | Lead partner | 2014 | in relation to the equity financing of the Welsh Motorsports Complex (the "Circuit of Wales") in Ebbw Vale, South Wales.
