Introduction
Callum advises credit funds, lenders and borrowers on complex cross border financings, restructurings and portfolio transactions, drawing on extensive international experience and multi jurisdictional qualifications.
Callum McPherson has significant experience of financial restructurings and large-scale cross-border portfolio transactions and financial restructurings, as well as a wider range of financing transactions. His clients include credit funds, senior lenders, governments and national bodies, mezzanine lenders as well as Borrowers.
Representative experience includes, acting for, the new money lender to Virgin Atlantic on its restructuring plan effected pursuant to Part 26A of the Companies Act 2006, Apollo Global Management on the EMEA and Asian aspects of its "debtor-in-possession" loan to finance Westinghouse Electric Co, Bank of Cyprus on a number of refinancings and restructurings including some of the largest undertaken in the Cypriot market including the refinancing of Nicosia Mall, the successful acquiror of the Project Jupiter Greek NPL portfolio sold by Alpha Bank, a major UK bank on the disposal of a portfolio of shipping loans over a number of parallel transactions and Arrow Global on the acquisition of a number of loan portfolios and specialty finance lends.
Callum is qualified in New York, England and Wales, and Scotland.
- HMG | Advised on the £500 million support package made available to Tata Steel to invest in Port Talbot for a new electric arc furnace for greener steel production.
- RCF Lenders | Advised on the English aspects of the €1.9 billion debt restructuring of Netceed.
- RCF Senior Lenders | Advised on the circa £117.5 million debt facilities made available to the global marine services company James Fisher and Sons plc.
- Azzurro Associates | Advised on the acquisition and servicing of a portfolio of both performing and non-performing loans borrowers across the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.
- A Senior Lender | Advised in relation to the injection of an additional £160 million into an airline and its wider restructuring and solvent recapitalization necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
- A leading International Bank | Advised on the acquisition of a number of loan portfolios and credits as part of the wind down of the non-core operations of Credit Suisse by UBS Group AG.
- Senior Lenders: Advised on the restructuring of debt arrangements with Avant Homes.
- The Buyers: Advised on the successful purchase of the €1.1 billion Project Jupiter mixed portfolio of Greek SME NPLs and REOs – one of the formative transactions in the Greek NPL market.
- Royal Bank of Scotland | Advised on the disposal of a significant portion of its shipping franchise valued at in excess of over £3 billion to a variety of sellers across a number of parallel transactions.
- HMG: Advised on the support for the restart and reopening of Ensus' Teeside bioethanol plant in order to safeguard the UK's critical supplies of CO2.
