Introduction
Ariel draws on her training as a certified information privacy professional to advise clients while managing their risk.
Ariel Fischoff counsels and defends clients on issues concerning incident response, data security, government investigations, user privacy, and online platform enforcement.
Ariel advises clients on complex data breach matters, assessing legal and regulatory risk, and coordinating compliance with breach notification laws. During a secondment as security counsel at a technology company, she liaised with engineers, product, policy, law enforcement response, and integrity teams to provide strategic legal guidance on end-to-end encryption, wiretapping laws, and data disclosure.
In addition, Ariel has counseled clients in internal government investigations and inquiries conducted by the DOJ, SEC, and FTC, and she has prepared witnesses for both grand jury and trial testimony. Her experience also includes helping protect against account abuse on online platforms, including scraping, fake engagement, and spamming.
Maintaining an active and diverse pro bono docket, Ariel secured a fraud waiver for clients in removal proceedings to be deported, providing a path for their citizenship, and represented a client related to the violation of his civil rights under 42 U.S.C. Section 1983, stemming from assault and battery on his person.
Prior to joining Ashurst Perkins Coie, Ariel clerked for the Hon. Michael S. Nachmanoff of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, where she assisted with high-stakes litigation by resolving a series of discovery motions and cross-motions for summary judgment involving nuanced legal issues.
