Introduction

Andrés drives energy transition, infrastructure and natural resources projects from development through to deals and disputes across Spain and Latin America.

Andrés Alfonso is a partner in our corporate practice and heads our Projects and Energy Transition group in Spain. He has broad experience in energy, including upstream oil and gas, LNG, biogas, hydrogen, power and renewables, mining, water and infrastructure sectors. He advises on project development, M&A transactions as well as arbitrations, at both a national and international level, with a particular focus on Latin America.

Andrés also advises on a wide range of regulatory and corporate matters within these sectors.

  • Enagás on its agreement to acquire a 31.5% stake in Teréga (a French gas TSO) for €573 million.
  • Sojitz Corporation of Europe on the acquisition of a controlling stake in the Spanish company Nexus Energía, which supplies electricity in Spain, Portugal and Mexico. 
  • Equitix on COFIDES' and T-Corp strategic co-investment in a Spanish renewable energy hybridization platform of wind, solar and BESS projects.
  • Verdalia Bioenergy Limited on a €671 million corporate financing for their biomethane projects in Spain and Italy, one of the largest biomethane financing operations in Europe. 
  • BNP Paribas and a syndicate of five other international banks on the financing of the acquisition by Masdar from Endesa (Enel) of a 49.99% stake in a portfolio of solar PV assets in Spain with an operating installed capacity of c. 2 GW.
  • Equitix on a €271 million hybrid renewable energy system financing with Banco Santander.
  • ING on the first project finance transaction for the development of a biomethane plant in Spain.
  • Alantra Solar and N-SUN Energy on the €213 million financing for the development of 1.9 GW photovoltaic platform in Spain and Italy.
  • Hy24 on the acquisition of a 30% stake in Enagás Renovables, one of the largest green hydrogen and biomethane platforms in Europe.
  • Infravía on the acquisition of Molgas Energia, a LNG/gas trading company in Spain for €120 million.
