Introduction
Adam Firth is a partner in our Litigation, Investigations & Advisory practice.
Adam has deep experience guiding government and industry clients through the full life cycle of complex project delivery — from contract structuring and risk allocation, through construction-phase disputes, to project completion and handback. He has particular experience in PPPs, EPC contracts and managing contractor models, and has advised on some of the country's most significant renewable energy, transport and social infrastructure projects.
Adam's practice spans hearings in the Supreme Courts of New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and Victoria, domestic and international arbitration (SIAC, ICC, ACICA and Resolution Institute), mediation, expert determination, statutory adjudication and other alternative dispute resolution processes. He brings a practical, solutions-driven approach that helps clients keep projects moving while protecting their commercial position.

- ICC Arbitration | Lead Partner | Acting for a renewable energy developer in an ICC arbitration regarding claims and counterclaims of circa USD$55 million in relation to delays to the construction, connection to the NEM and commissioning of one of the largest solar farms in Australia.
- Rollingstock Project | Partner | Advising a government department across all aspects of a ~$10 billion rollingstock procurement project, including advising on procurement documentation, claims administration and disputes.
- Resolution Institute Arbitration | Lead Partner | Acted for a government department in a Resolution Institute arbitration regarding significant defects in the heavy duty pavement design for a major infrastructure project.
- Defect Rectification | Lead Partner | Advised a government department in relation to defects found in rollingstock whilst in operation, including removal of the fleet from service, and the negotiation of rectification agreements and settlement of claims.
- ICC Arbitration | Lead Partner | Acted for a government department in a Resolution Institute arbitration regarding significant defects in the heavy duty pavement design for a major infrastructure project.
- Project restructure | Lead Partner | Advised a government department on the restructuring of its contracts for a major infrastructure project in PNG following the insolvency of its contractor.
- IT Projects | Partner | Advised a government department on the termination of its IT contractor following extensive delays to the delivery of a critical IT infrastructure project.
- ICC Arbitration | Lead Partner | Acted for a government department in a Dispute Avoidance Board proceeding and related NSW Supreme Court proceedings regarding the rectification of a significant bridge defect in a bridge on a major highway project.
- Retail development | Lead Partner | Advised a major retailer in relation to claims regarding the termination of the development agreement for the construction and lease of a major distribution facility.
- SIAC Arbitration | Partner | Acted for LNG Project Proponents in a significant ($2-3 billion) arbitration against the EPC contractor for a gas transmission pipeline project.
