Rebecca is an award-winning global pro bono leader driving high-impact legal projects across borders, with experience in law firm pro bono strategy.
Rebecca Greenhalgh is responsible for the development and management of pro bono across our offices in the United States, London, and Glasgow and leads the pro bono practice across modern slavery, international human rights, fair trials and crisis response efforts.
Rebecca has worked in dedicated law firm pro bono roles since 2007. Prior to this Rebecca worked at international human rights organizations, operating casework schemes in conjunction with pro bono lawyers.
Rebecca served on the Board of the Association of Pro Bono Counsel (2018-2023; Co-President 2020-2021), the secretariat for the UK Collaborative Plan for Pro Bono (2017-2024), and the Editorial Committee for the Law Society Pro Bono Manual (2016, 2020), and in 2016 she helped establish UKademy, the annual professional development conference for law firm pro bono professionals.
For her work in pro bono crisis response Rebecca secured a Special Mention in the Global Pro Bono Award for Local Pro Bono Impact at the 2017 PILnet Pro Bono Awards, the Best Contribution by an Individual Award at the 2017 LawWorks Pro Bono Awards and was Highly Commended in the Law Society Gazette's Legal Personality of the Year 2018. Rebecca was honored with the Andrew Lee Jones Award at the Amicus Champions of Justice Awards 2022, in recognition of her longstanding support to the charity.
