Introduction

Peter is a senior competition law counsel with 25+ years' experience spanning EU/UK regulation, merger control, cartel damages litigation, and sports governance disputes across multiple jurisdictions.

Peter Turner-Kerr joined the firm in 2019 from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), where he was a Director in the Merger Investigations Branch and led a number of significant merger reviews, including, for example, the Siemens-Alstom and Tronox-Cristal transactions.

Peter has over 25 years of experience in advising on many aspects of EU/EEA law and competition law and regulation, across a variety of sectors, both contentious and non-contentious, both as a regulator and in private practice. He has practiced in Brussels, London, Spain and Australia.

Peter's work over the past few years has been dominated by the follow-on damages Trucks cartel litigation before the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal for claimant Ryder Limited and its subsidiary, Hill Hire, against the major Truck manufacturers in Europe; and various football-related matters involving world and European football governing bodies, FIFA and UEFA, including the multi-jurisdictional claims brought against FIFA in relation to FIFA's Football Agent Regulations. He has also been advising Meta in relation to various regulatory matters, including the DMA; and has been involved in several multi-jurisdictional merger matters.

  • FIFA | Representing FIFA in relation to the new FIFA Football Agent Regulations and related litigation in England, Spain, Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands and various other jurisdictions, including interim measures, a complaint before the European Commission and a reference to the CJEU.
  • Ryder Limited | Follow-on damages claims before the UK Competition Appeal Tribunal in relation to the Trucks cartel.
  • Verizon Communications Inc | Advising in relation to a joint venture with BT Group to combine their respective international enterprise operations.
  • CMA-CGM Group | Advising in relation to a joint venture with Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT).
  • Hyundai/Kia | Advising in relation to the EU Commission’s fining decision in the EV cartel and possible follow-on claims.
  • Justice Support International (JSI) | Advising in relation to a pro bono project regarding Asylex's Rights in Exile database.
  • Jefferies Financial Group Inc | Advising in relation to the expansion of its Global Strategic Alliance with Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Corporation.
