Peter is a consultant in the intellectual property group practising in all fields of contentious and non-contentious intellectual property law. He advises clients on dispute resolution and intellectual property asset management. His experience in intellectual property law spans the globe, and he has conducted intellectual property litigation in England and Australia.
Throughout his career, Peter represented many international intellectual property owners in multi-jurisdictional disputes of global significance, including Apple v Samsung (smartphones and tablets), Sanofi-Aventis v Apotex (clopidogrel) and Eli Lilly v Pfizer (phosphodiesterase IV inhibitors). He often appeared as an advocate in Australian courts and tribunals. As a member of the Board of Directors of the International Trademark Association (INTA), he was at the forefront of thought leadership on global IP issues.
Peter's non-contentious intellectual property experience includes advising on and prosecution of trade marks, management of local, regional and global trade mark portfolios, conducting and advising on a wide range of corporate IP transactions such as due diligence and licensing transactions, and medical device and food standards regulatory matters. Peter also worked as in-house IP counsel, and in the Federal Court of Australia as Associate to Mr Justice M.L. Foster and Chief Justice Black. Peter's combination of in-house experience, private practice and work in the court system offers clients a combination of international practical legal experience and commercial insight.
