Introduction
Luca Maria Chieffo is a counsel in our Milan office and is a member of the Italian Banking team.
Luca’s broad-based finance practice covers real estate finance, acquisition finance, corporate lending, and private debt. He has extensive experience advising lenders and borrowers on sophisticated and innovative financing transactions in the real estate sector, often with a multi-jurisdictional element.
In the alternative lending space, he has advised a number of the top-tier players (both lenders and borrowers) in the context of domestic or cross-border transactions via AIFs, Securitisation SPVs or bond structures.
Luca qualified as an Italian avvocato in 2013.
Luca is part of the Credit Technical Committee of Assoimmobiliare, committee aiming to reform and modernize the legal and tax framework for Italian real estate finance transactions.
Before joining Ashurst Perkins Coie in 2021, he worked 11 years at Clifford Chance (Milan and London).
- An International Private Credit institution | Advising on the Italian and Luxembourg law aspects of a €149 million financing made available, trough credit funds, for the acquisition of a portfolio of shopping centers located in Northern Italy by a fund managed by an Italian AIFM and ultimately invested by a primary standing US Sponsor.
- An International Bank | Advising on the financing for an office building, owned by a fund managed by an Italian AIFM and ultimately invested by a primary standing European Sponsor, located in the historic center of Milan, let as HQ of a leading e-commerce US company.
- Investors | Advising in relation to the €100 million financing granted by an international alternative lending institution with the aim to support the acquisition, and in some cases the development, of eight logistics assets located in northern Italy with a total surface area of approximately 250,000 sq.m.
- An International Private Credit institution | Advising on the €250 million financing to a fund ultimately invested in by international Investors and an Italian developer for the acquisition and development of (i) a 170 new homes complex and (ii) a 600 new homes complex, both in the city of Milan.
- Investors on a real estate financing granted by an Italian Lender to support the acquisition, redevelopment and repositioning of an office complex in Milan.
- International Banks | Advising on a loan of approximately €124 million to refinance a portfolio of logistics assets located in the Lazio region, held by a reserved closed-end real estate fund managed by an Italian AIFM and sponsored by an international Sponsor.
- Investors on the financing relating to a real estate investment fund, managed by a Luxembourg AIFM owning a portfolio of 22 retail (grocery) properties, including 7 hypermarkets and 15 supermarkets leased to a primary Italian food operator.
- An International Bank as lender of a financing relating to a five-stars Hotel, located in Venice.
- Investors | Advising on the financing made available by a primary standing international Private Credit institution for the acquisition of 3 logistics real estate complexes and a plot of buildable land in Northern Italy.
- International Banks | Advising on a medium-long term loan of €215 million to a leading Italian company active in integrated waste cycle management with a circular economy approach.
