Katrin Hansen
Counsel
Munich
Introduction
Katrin combines dispute resolution and transactional knowledge to manage risk and resolve complex project disputes in energy and infrastructure.
Dr Katrin Hansen is a counsel in our Litigation, Investigations & Advisory practice.
Katrin advises clients on commercial, corporate and project disputes, representing them in both litigation and arbitration. She supports clients across the full spectrum of contentious situations, from early risk assessment, dispute avoidance and pragmatic conflict management to settlement negotiations and formal court or arbitral proceedings. Her advice is strategic and outcome-oriented, helping clients preserve leverage, manage procedural risk and pursue commercially sensible resolutions.
She advises on large and complex projects throughout the project life cycle, particularly in the energy, infrastructure and real estate sectors. Her experience spans the procurement and tender phases, the structuring, drafting and negotiation of complex project contracts, as well as ongoing support in contract and claims management. She is closely involved in infrastructure and energy-related projects, including data centres, power plants, battery storage and green energy initiatives.
Katrin combines extensive experience in dispute resolution with strong transactional know-how. This integrated approach allows her to identify and mitigate risks at an early stage, bridge sectors, jurisdictions and practice areas, and position clients effectively in the event of disputes.
Katrin studied law at the University of Münster (Dr. jur.), where her doctoral thesis focused on settlements in international arbitration. She completed her clerkship at the Higher Regional Court of Berlin. She has been admitted to practise as a lawyer in Germany since 2017 and, before joining Ashurst Perkins Coie, worked in the Berlin and Munich offices of other international law firms.
