Introduction

John is well recognized for his experience over a career of 35 years in corporate law, governance, M&A and private equity.

John is a Senior Corporate Adviser in our corporate transactions practice. John has spent his professional career with Ashurst Perkins Coie (or its predecessors), including as a partner from 2000–2022.

John is an experienced company lawyer. His practice areas include corporate law and governance, public company mergers & acquisitions (including public company takeovers), private company and business sales and purchases, joint ventures, equity investments, shareholders agreements, corporate equity fundraisings, and other commercial arrangements.

Over his career John has advised a wide variety of public companies and international clients including banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions, energy and resources companies, infrastructure operators and owners, financial investors, government bodies, and not-for-profits.

John is one of the current authors of Ford, Austin & Ramsay’s Principles of Corporations Law (LexisNexis). He has also authored a number of articles on corporate law and other issues. John has lectured as a Senior Fellow of the Melbourne Law School in the subject “Corporate Equity Fundraising” in the LLM course.
