Introduction

David is a cross-border project finance lawyer advising lenders and sponsors across energy, infrastructure, and maritime sectors worldwide.

David McCormick has over 15 years of experience in cross-border international projects. He has extensive experience in outbound project finance in the power and utilities (including renewables), petrochemicals, oil and gas, transport and infrastructure sectors and maritime finance, in relation to which he has advised DFIs, ECAs, commercial banks and sponsors.

David has experience being on secondment to the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) for two years in Tokyo where he advised on project and finance documentation for transactions in Southeast Asia, Central Asia, the Middle East and Europe.


  • International Finance Corporation (IFC), Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in relation to the development and financing of a solar / BESS project in Timor Leste;
  • JBIC, NEXI, IFC and commercial lenders in relation to the development and financing of the 1580MW Syrdarya CCGT IPP in Uzbekistan;
  • JBIC, Export-Import Bank of Korea (K-EXIM), Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI) and commercial lenders in relation to the development and financing of the multi-billion dollar 1200MW Vung Ang II BOT Power Project in Vietnam;
  • JBIC and commercial lenders in relation to the development and financing of the Khanom 4 gas fired IPP in Thailand; and
  • JBIC, K-EXIM, NEXI and the other lenders in relation to the US$2.8 billion Donggi-Senoro LNG Project in Sulawesi, Indonesia.
