Introduction
Austin represents companies, organizations, and individuals facing government investigations and high-stakes public scrutiny.
Austin Evers draws on his experience at the highest levels of government to represent clients facing investigations by Congress, state attorneys general, and regulators, and the intense reputational risks that often come with them.
Austin has defended clients facing some of the highest profile matters of the last decade. He served most recently as associate deputy attorney general in the DOJ, where he advised the attorney general and deputy attorney general on all matters relating to Congress, including preparing senior officials for testimony. He also assisted his clients in responding to inspectors general, the Government Accountability Office, litigation, and media investigations. He served previously in similar roles as special counsel to the general counsel of the Pentagon and as senior counsel to the State Department.
Since leaving the government, Austin has represented companies and senior executives facing congressional, state AG, and regulatory investigations. He also launched a DEI risk counseling practice to help clients navigate emerging risks and investigations in the United States, and advises corporate legal departments on AI adoption, privilege, and professional ethics. In addition, he has knowledge of government ethics, the Freedom of Information Act, and the Federal Advisory Committees Act.
Austin maintains a robust pro bono practice. He advocates regularly for gun safety and represents nonprofit organizations on governance and responding to regulatory inquiries.
