Abigail Frisch Vice

Abby Vice is a trusted resource for appellate advocacy, offering clients strategic, practical counsel informed by her work in government and the private sector. She brings deep experience in statutory interpretation and constitutional issues to a practice that spans industries and subject matters.

She has worked on nearly 40 matters before the Supreme Court of the United States, including at the certiorari, merits, and interim-relief stages. Abby has argued before three federal courts of appeals and advised on matters involving administrative, antitrust, bankruptcy, constitutional, immigration, tax, and securities law. She has also advised numerous technology and social media companies in major litigation, including government enforcement actions and class actions.

Before joining Ashurst Perkins Coie, Abby was an appellate specialist at a national law firm, where she was the principal drafter of Supreme Court briefs concerning antitrust tying principles and the Sixth Amendment. She also was the principal drafter of a successful petition for discretionary interlocutory appeal to the Michigan Court of Appeals on behalf of a major insurance client defending against a $500 million claim. She successfully defended the dismissal of a securities class-action complaint on appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and represented financial and technology companies in regulatory matters.

Previously, Abby served as Bristow Fellow in the Office of the Solicitor General at the U.S. Department of Justice. In addition, she served as a Coleman Fellow in the Office of the Solicitor General of Texas, where she argued and won a case in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.

Abby maintains an active pro bono practice, representing local small businesses, noncitizens, and criminal defendants.

Earlier in her career, Abby worked as a certified public accountant at a national accounting firm, where she focused on audits of financial statements and internal controls—experience that informs her sophisticated approach to matters involving complex financial and regulatory issues.
