Introduction
Kate brings a pragmatic, deal-focused approach to the structuring and financing of energy and infrastructure projects.
Kate Muller is a partner in our projects and energy transition practice. Kate advises across the full lifecycle of energy and infrastructure projects – with particular expertise in structuring, revenue contracting and debt financing. She acts for sponsors, developers, funders and financiers on greenfield and brownfield assets.
Her energy work spans a wide range of technologies, including solar, wind, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, hydrogen, efuels and energy-from-waste. In infrastructure, Kate’s experience covers data centers, social and student accommodation, water and transportation projects.
She understands the commercial drivers behind each asset class and brings a pragmatic, deal-focused approach to delivery. She helps clients ensure bankable structures and contracts, manage risk allocation and close transactions efficiently, drawing on deep industry knowledge and a clear focus on project outcomes.
Kate is recognised as a "Leading Partner" for Energy (Transactions and Regulatory) by Legal 500.
- Nomura Securities | Local Lead Partner / International Support Partner | 2025 | Advised on Australian law aspects of HoldCo Development Finance Facilities provided to Revera Energy including due diligence across all Australian assets and input to US law governed finance documents.*
- FlowPower (Progressive Green) | Power | Lead Partner | 2025 | Advised as offtaker on a ‘market first’ energy services contract from Blind Creek Solar-BESS Hybrid developed by Octopus.*
- Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners | Lead Partner | 2023 – 2025 | Advised on the Supernode Project, a BESS and DC project located at the Queensland Regional Reference Node, including structuring, long term services agreements, due diligence and project financing of Stages 1 and 2 and long term services agreement and intermediary arrangements for Stage 3.*
- EDF power solutions Australia | Lead Partner | 2025 | Advised on the acquisition of a 75% interest of the Lake Lyell Pumped Hydro Project, including coordination of due diligence streams and negotiation of all project level contracts including term sheets for long term services agreement, water and infrastructure agreements and development services agreements.*
- EDF power solutions Australia | Support Partner | 2025 | Advised on the acquisition of a 100% interest of the Big T Pumped Hydro Project, including 50/50 joint venture arrangements with Stanwell and land and water tender with Toowoomba Regional Council. Kate led on due diligence and negotiation of all project level contracts and development services arrangements.*
- Banking entities and a multinational industrial company | Lead Partner | 2024 | Advised on the project financing of the greenfield Gunsynd Solar Farm in Queensland, developed by Metis Energy.*
- CQP Joint Venture (RES and Energy Estate) | Lead Partner | 2023 - 2025 | Advised on their CQP Joint Venture, including on a portfolio development agreement and option agreement for the development and future disposal of a number of solar, wind and storage development assets to CleanCo in Queensland, as well as ongoing project development workstreams including connection contracts for the Moah Creek Wind Farm and Moach Creek Solar Farm.*
