Introduction
Sean is a technology, copyright, and interactive entertainment lawyer who provides practical, timely advice to clients developing and deploying cutting-edge technologies.
Sean West counsels his clients on copyright, e-commerce, AI, and consumer protection issues. He advises on the intersection of copyright and AI and helps clients develop, deploy, and use generative AI tools. Sean is also active in the video game industry, advising on game engines, partnership agreements, marketplace terms, and interactive content. He also provides strategic consumer protection counseling, including compliance with laws governing automatically renewing subscriptions.
Sean has experience with matters involving digital media, self-driving vehicles, virtual and augmented reality, Internet of Things products, and other emerging technologies. In addition, Sean assists clients with structuring, drafting, and implementing terms of service, end-user licenses, and other consumer agreements. He counsels companies on updating dispute resolution provisions, developing strategies to minimize the risk of mass arbitrations, and implementing best practices for obtaining and documenting consumer consent to agreements.
Prior to his legal career, Sean managed brand protection programs for several top global brands. He worked with internet hosts, registrars, and other intermediaries to identify, develop, and implement trademark and copyright enforcement strategies to disrupt the sales of counterfeit goods online.
