Tihana is an experienced partner with a focus on Australian competition law / antitrust law, consumer law, and tech sector regulation.

Tihana has a strong background in advising parties on merger control issues, and obtaining approval from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission for complex domestic and international transactions.

Tihana has deep experience in ACCC market inquiries, and helping clients respond to ACCC investigations. She has a strong track record of closing investigations into alleged misuse of market power / abuse of dominance, cartel conduct, anti-competitive arrangements and unfair contract terms. Her particular focus is in the tech sector, including digital platforms, media, digital infrastructure / telecommunications, AI and emerging tech.

Tihana regularly provides strategic advice on joint ventures, exclusivity and distribution arrangements, business model changes and product launches, helping clients achieve their objectives within the bounds of the Competition and Consumer Act and emerging tech regulations.

Tihana also routinely advises on all aspects of the Australian Consumer Law, including unfair contract terms, consumer guarantees and misleading or deceptive conduct.

  • ANZ | Obtained merger authorization for the acquisition of Suncorp Bank, including a successful application for review of the ACCC's decision in the Australian Competition Tribunal.
  • Nine Entertainment | Obtained ACCC approvals for Nine's $4.2 billion merger with Fairfax, and Nine's acquisition of QMS Media, creating a "sofa to street" advertising powerhouse in Australia.
  • Healthscope Hospital Assets | Advising Receivers on the sale of Healthscope private hospitals to various bidders, including obtaining ACCC approval.
  • Google | Advising on responding to the ACCC's Digital Platforms Inquiry and Digital Platform Services Inquiry, including the proposed introduction of new digital platform competition and consumer regulation.
  • Major online digital platform | Responding to an ACCC investigation relating to unfair terms, consumer guarantees and misleading conduct (closed without proceedings). Advising on settlement negotiations with the ACCC in the context of an investigation concerning breaches of the Australian Consumer Law.
