Introduction
Sarah Morton-Ramwell is our Global Pro Bono and Social Impact Partner and global practice head for pro bono and social impact.
With a background in human rights law, with a particular focus on gender rights and reproductive rights, Sarah focuses on Ashurst Perkins Coie's global pro bono practice and global social impact program and is a qualified lawyer in both Australia (NSW) and England & Wales.
Sarah advises leading global and local non-profit organizations, charities, social enterprises and individuals experiencing marginalisation and disadvantage.
Sarah has several years of experience on the boards of the Australian Pro Bono Centre and an independent school in Sydney, where she served as Chair. She is a member of the Centre for Social Impact's Sydney Advisory Council and is Co-Chair of our Reconciliation Action Plan Leadership Circle. Sarah is the former Chair of the International Bar Association's Pro Bono Committee.
Sarah is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and was named in the Institute of Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability's first group of Fellows in 2016, and became their first Senior Fellow in 2016. Sarah has spoken extensively on pro bono, social impact, access to justice and ESG, and holds a Master of Studies in Sustainability Leadership from the University of Cambridge.
Sarah was previously named as the Qantas Australian Woman of the Year in the UK and has been named as one of the Australian Financial Review and Westpac's 100 Women of Influence as well as one of Australasian Lawyer's 'Elite Women'. Sarah won "Pro Bono Partner of the Year 2025" at the Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards. Under her leadership, our signature pro bono projects won the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards' Responsible Business Award in both 2023 and 2025.
