Introduction

A former federal prosecutor, Spencer represents clients in high-stakes disputes at every level of the judicial system.

Spencer Todd is a trial and appellate litigator who handles complex matters at all stages of litigation. He previously served as an assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, where he led investigations and prosecutions involving financial fraud and other criminal matters, including through jury verdict. 

Among other matters, Spencer oversaw the prosecution of a $1.7 billion international cryptocurrency fraud scheme. He also briefed appeals and successfully argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Before his government service, Spencer represented clients in sophisticated government, regulatory, and commercial litigation in trial and appellate courts. He has briefed significant matters before the Supreme Court of the United States and federal and state appellate courts in cases involving constitutional, administrative, antitrust, and IP law. 

Spencer clerked for Judge Paul J. Watford of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and Judge Paul A. Engelmayer of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. He earned his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he served as an editor of the Yale Law Journal. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University.
