Introduction
Alex represents management-side clients in the automotive, aerospace, technology, financial services, and manufacturing industries in a range of labor and employment law issues.
Michael (Alex) Pratt focuses on advising companies on their most complex labor challenges, including labor-management relations, response to union organizing, labor arbitrations, unfair labor practice investigations and litigation, and collective bargaining. He counsels clients on compliance with the National Labor Relations Act and helps them addresses National Labor Relations Board charges, including drafting position statements, developing trainings for managers and other stakeholders, and coordinating media. He has also handled election hearings involving issues related to unit scope and composition. Additionally, Alex has provided high-level advice to a multinational transportation client on labor organization matters, including union campaign strategy and emerging issues.
In his employment practice, Alex helps employers with workplace issues including hiring, discipline, termination, employee handbooks and policies, discrimination, harassment, internal investigations, the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, and company property theft. He assists clients from early advice through litigation, mediations, depositions, and hearings. His representations include matters in federal and state courts, and he has significant experience before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Committed to his pro bono practice, Alex worked on a team that successfully obtained compassionate release for a federal prisoner in Arkansas at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. He has also participated in employment counseling for Dallas-area nonprofits.
