Introduction
Maria is a patent litigator representing science and technology clients in areas spanning pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices.
Maria Stubbings applies her background in genetics and science communication to represent pharmaceutical and biotech companies in a variety of patent litigation disputes, including Hatch-Waxman Abbreviated New Drug Application patent infringement disputes. She has experience with all facets of district court litigation, including claim construction, fact and expert discovery, pre-trial motions, and trial. She also has experience with inter partes review and post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), as well as investigations before the International Trade Commission (ITC).
Maria is active in the IP community, participating in organizations like ChIPs and the PTAB Bar Association, and she is on the alumni board of her alma mater, the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law. Maria also maintains an active pro bono practice, advocating for clients in the courtroom and in nonlitigation contexts. Maria was a key member of a team that successfully obtained parole for an individual incarcerated for more than 30 years, earning the Ashurst Perkins Coie Pro Bono Leadership Team Award in 2022.
