Introduction

Kyle counsels clients at all stages of the IP life cycle, guiding them effectively through a range of issues.

Kyle R. Canavera has drafted more than 100 patent applications and evaluated IP portfolios in acquisition due diligence. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in patent and trade secret litigation in U.S. district courts, and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the International Trade Commission.

Bridging patent prosecution and litigation, Kyle combines technical knowledge in both domains with reverse engineering skill, and the hardware and software tools to match, to craft patents targeted to competitors’ products and services. Kyle develops patent claims to avoid claim construction risk, prevent design-arounds, and provide meaningful defense in dependent claims.

Kyle brings technical strength in AI and machine learning; cellular and networking technologies, including relevant IEEE 802 and 3GPP standards; video coding, including relevant H.264, H.265, and other standards; and software-based innovation. With more than four years of experience as a software engineer, dual graduate degrees in computer science and electrical and computer engineering, and university-level teaching credentials, he delivers vast technical insight.
