Antonio Azzarà has over 20 years' experience focusing on bankruptcy law and restructuring and has been involved in some of the most significant restructurings in Italy.

Also focusing on corporate law, Antonio advises clients on complex Italian and cross-border M&A deals and contractual and corporate governance matters.

  • US multi-strategy fund and Italian distressed investment fund | Assisted with a EUR 600 million investment as assignees in the concordato preventivo of a major Italian multinational company active in the electromechanical, railway, marine and telecommunications sectors, including asset purchases and composition debt payments.*
  • US multi-strategy fund | Assisted in acquiring the majority debt of a central Italian real estate company through a securitization vehicle and a restructuring plan, including refinancing through two UK law-governed secured bonds listed on the Vienna third market. Transaction value: approximately EUR 370 million.*
  • Steel company | Assisted a bespoke steel forgings company with its debt restructuring and recapitalization under a restructuring plan, involving complex negotiations with shareholders and institutional lenders, voting arrangements as secured creditors and the appointment of a new board of directors. Transaction value: approximately EUR 140 million.
  • Real estate investor | Assisted on the management buy-out of the majority of the share capital of an Italian real estate company and the restructuring of its debt as part of a wider transaction involving the redevelopment of an area in Milan. Transaction value: approximately EUR 120 million.*
  • Italian SPV | Assisted a securitization vehicle in the sale of its shareholding in a leading European BOPP film and flexible packaging producer, following the acquisition of claims and equity from a distressed investment fund and the borrower's reorganization under Article 67(3)(d) of the Italian Bankruptcy Act. Transaction value: approximately EUR 80 million.
  • Pool of banks | Advised a pool of Italian banks on refinancing an Italian ceramics producer that had restructured under Article 182-bis of the Italian Bankruptcy Act and successfully completed its turnaround.
  • Italian SPV | Assisted an SPV controlled by a multinational distressed investment fund in negotiating a complex investment agreement with an Italian real estate company in a preliminary composition proceeding, aimed at funding completion of the composition plan.
  • Distressed investment fund | Assisted in acquiring financial receivables and equity instruments of a Northern Italian water park and wellness center in the context of a reorganization plan pursuant to Article 67(3)(d) of the Italian Bankruptcy Act.*
  • Ireland-based investment fund | Assisted in the restructuring of the financial indebtedness of a shipping group through separate debt restructuring agreements.
  • US multi-strategy fund | Assisted with the purchase of financial receivables from multiple lenders and the debt restructuring of a real estate company with assets located in Northern Italy.*
